My Story

I'm Ander. I love stories and I love languages. I'm also bad at smiling in pictures. Sorry.

I was born and did my growing up in Virginia, but I've also lived in Iceland and Russia. In high school, I spent a year in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland as an exchange student. That's where my love of language was born. During college, I taught English for a year in Volgograd, Russia. That's where my love of pelmenni was born. They're dumplings. And they're delicious.

I speak bad Icelandic, a hint of Polish, my Russian is rusty, and I can read a bit of Latin. I'm a nerd for all things Viking and most things medieval.

When I'm not writing, I love to read sci-fi and fantasy, binge on Netflix, and play computer games. Occasionally, I go outside.

My Goals

I want to write the best stories I can and share them with you. I'd like to do that without a publisher, or an agent, or publicity tours, or any of the other hundred things that conspire to throw up barriers between authors and readers. That's why I've chosen to self-publish. Luckily, there's never been a better time to do that. But I need your help.

If you've already read my stuff, thank you. Thank you for taking the chance. And thank you for supporting me in this crazy journey.

If you haven't, consider taking a dip. The water is frigid in the far north, there may be icebergs and longships, but I promise you that it'll be worth the risk.

My Dogs

I really like dogs. Because it's the internet and I don't want to start anything, I do like cats, too. Some of my best friends are felines. Here are some pictures. They're all pretty awesome.

Xena. She's the boss.

Odin. He's the pupper.

Loki. He thinks he's a dog. I'm not 100% sure he isn't.
